Happy New Year to all the family at Castlerigg Farm.
Judy and I just want to say a big thank you for looking after us so well during our wonderful stays Castlerigg. We plan our next visit in May and this will be our 10th year with you.
Over the years we have seen the site grow, the facilities are always clean and tidy and your family are always there to greet us with a warm welcome. We love your silence after 10.30pm policy and appreciate the hard work you put in to upholding this rule, there are not many sites who care about the welfare of visitors as your family does.
Last year we visited Castlerigg on 4 occasions, each time we were greeted by Anne, we missed seeing Doris in Reception but its nice to know she's taking more time off, she deserves it.
Anne always made us feel welcome and directed us quickly and efficiently to our pitch. Some of the family were always around working on the site or in the cafe. The food in the Cafe was wonderful, we enjoyed a fabulous breakfast at the Hayloft and Emma's Steak and Ale Pie was something to look forward to after a day on the hills.
To anyone reading this I can honestly say if you are looking for a family run site, a site who insist on Silence after 10.30pm, somewhere to stay with spectacular views then you couldn't choose anywhere better than Castlerigg Farm.
Thank you all, see you soon.

Stayed at Castlerigg Farm for a week at the beginning of September. Have been a few times and knew site was fantastic but was concerned about the weather. I think I had the best week of the year, it was fantastic, had a wonderful time and didnt want to come home. I have never seen the site so full as it was at the weekend. Will defintely be back next year. Would come againt this year, but I am a softy and dont like the cold nights. Just like to say my favourite sign in the whole word is the one which says "Castlerigg Farm 150yds", when I first see it, it means my holiday has begun and when I see it every day it means I have actually managed to cllimb the hill.

Hi all what a great holiday we had in august all was perfect even the weather, did everything we wanted. The site as ever, was fab stayed in top of second field and it was a joy, cafe was delightful.
We simply love castlerigg and only wish we could have come again. On return home Lindsey (myself) developed Ramsey hunt syndrome nice! The hospital were confused as the bells palsy that appears with it comes from ticks. We were both bit by them this year while walking round the lake and cat bells but the walk was worth it.
The consultant said to me 8 weeks on and still ill, was the camping trip worth it, I said to him oh my gosh yes, you really should try castlerigg farm Keswick, he laughed and said, if all this is worth that it must be good ha-ha.
So here we are only just getting over it camping bits all put away and still too ill to come back this year grrr but I’m working real hard on making it up for next Easter bank holiday. If we do make it, it will be a real treat for our son who since the day we left castlerigg has been stuck at home, he then started a new school poor thing he keeps saying mummy it was not the speck sites fault, can go back? (spec as in the pine cones).
Anyway here’s wishing you all up there a great Christmas and New Year and we will see you soon.
Love the Liverpool louts in the Rangie xxx

Had a lovely stay, facilities were modern and clean, there was always plenty of hot water and surprisingly the 3 1/2 minute timer on the shower was more than enough, even with my long hair. When the clouds cleared the views were second to none, the weather could have been better but we were in our caravan and had plenty of room to hang wet clothes.
We loved the silence after 10.30pm rule and saw Steve the warden walking round each night to make sure everything was quiet. The site was busy and we were surprised how quiet it was after 10.30pm but it seems as though its what campers require, including us. We enjoyed our meals at the site cafe and the pub was only 50 yards down the lane, think it was called the Crag Bar. The walk down to Keswick took 25 minutes through the woods and 40 minutes by the road. This was our first visit to Castlerigg Farm but we will definitely return and would happily recommend it to anyone who wanted a relaxing time.

On arrival at Castlerigg we were met by Anne, she booked us in quickly without any problems and made us feel welcome. True, the family do tell everyone on arrival what they want "Silence after 10.30pm" but so they should, its what they require, you either like it or you don't, we liked it and decided to stay.
The facilities were excellent, everything was clean and the site was well maintained. We saw a man driving round checking the tents apparently he was a member of the family, then we met the chap moping the toilets, he was also part of the family. We went for a meal in the cafe and the woman chef was another member of the family, we also met Pete who was very helpful and delivered the most delicious steak and ale pies to our table. The man who owns the site was in the shop and his wife was there too so we came to the conclusion not only was this a site for families it was also a site run by a family and they all made us very welcome.
The location of the site is ideal for walking and for Keswick. The views from the site of the surrounding mountains are spectacular and we took loads of photographs. On our first day we walked from the site down to Keswick which took about 25 minutes, we caught the bus back to the end of the lane everything was very central. The following day we caught the bus and had a wonderful drive to Ambleside where we spent a fortune on camping gear, it gave us a good excuse to come camping again so we have to use it. It rained quite a bit but the tent stayed dry and the ground conditions weren't too bad. We are planning another visit in October hopefully for the autumn colours, great site, keep up the good work.

Hi just returned from another holiday at your wonderful campsite. We spent 10 days this time. Not the best of weather, rain & wind most nights & some mornings, but we still enjoyed ourselves. We actually managed to conquer Old Man Of Coniston this year. On previous attempts the clouds descended or it was so cold that our eyelashes froze(February 2007 I think). Even with the wet weather the facilities were kept spotless. The food on our final night in the Hayloft cafe was bril. Our youngest ,Jack, (12 years) reccommends the steak & ale pie, he says it was the best he's ever had, even the pastry. Hope to be back again next year. Oh and by the way the "no noise after 10.30pm" rule is fantastic. Whilst we were there everyone kept to it!! Well done to you all!!

Just had a lovely 8 night break at this site with my two crazy doberman dogs and partner (yes he is crazy as well )
The site is well laid out, clean and welcoming. Steve, Doris and the rest of the team were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. As it was so wet and slippery they kindly moved my caravan unit twice with the old tractor and even leveled it up so we did not fall out of bed!
The on site facilities are excellent; shop is small but like a tardis as it sells all your basic necessities and more!. Showers are the best, I never had to queue and the 50p is definitely well spent (I found you had more than enough time to wash and then stand under the hot water pondering where to walk the following day!).
There is a laundry room and washing up facility, they even have steps so that the kids / those who are vertically challenged can help with the chores.
The on site restaurant / takeaway was reasonably priced and appeared to be doing a good trade, especially with those in tents (it was too wet / windy for some to cook without pots and pans flying).
There were plenty of walks from the site or from nearby so you did not need to use the car everyday.
Because of the weather the fields were starting to get very wet and the owners restricted the vehicular access which for some people caused a few issues. Whilst I understand that it is nicer to have your car right next to your tent / van it creates a mud bath, especially when some people get the urge to give more right foot to see how slippery it actually is (yes we saw you!)
As a dog owner, and I like to think responsible one at that I was pleased to see a supply of dog poo bags near reception however disappointed that some people still felt it beyond them to clean up after their dog.
All in all, excellent site that I will certainly be returning to (even though it is a 6 hr journey). Thank you and look forward to seeing you all soon.

Just returned from a midweek break (Tues to Fri) at Castlerigg. It was our first time on this site but we will def be returning as loved it. Stunning views to every side, really friendly family run site, great toilets and showers and a shop that seemed to have everything you could possibly need, oh, and i mustn't forget the fantastic on site cafe, which serves the most fab breakfasts and evening meals. Very yummy!!!
Great location from which to explore the lakes and Keswick is such a lovely town. Had an amazing time (even though the weather was rubbish) and really didn't want to leave.
I liked the fact that we could choose where to pitch our tent and i also liked the rule of no noise after 10.30p.m. as it allowed you to get a good nights sleep and be up early the next day to go off exploring.
Can't fault it!

Just returned from a two night stay, the first in four years ( god we've missed it ) and had a great time as usual. The sign was out at the front when we arrived to say that the site was full but having stayed in the past and getting to know Doris and Ray it was no problem getting on and managing to get a pitch at the top of the field where it is more flat.
We'll be back, roll on bank holiday weekend
