Hi to everyone. Well we had another great time at your campsite visiting 21st June for 1 week. By the sounds of some of your messages we must have slept through all the "boisterous" activity of people disobeying the "no noise after 10.30 rule" We didn't hear a thing, but there again we were contending with 60mph gales & rain!!!!! I was already for coming home on Sunday as our brand new tent leaked! But Monday dawned bright & sunny & we did Haystacks, what a fantastic mountain, the views were breathtaking. After that I could cope with whatever the weather held.
We ate in the cafe twice & both times it was bril. Our compliments go to the chef. one thing that could be added is smaller adult meals for children as our 10 year old is a bit fed up with nuggets & pizza. He would have much preferred something off our menu but portions were too big( us grown ups didn't mind!)I am sure if we had mentioned this at the time the staff would have been only too pleased to have sorted something.
Hopefully we will be back at Castlerigg in the not too distant future. bye for now

Just got back from yet another few days break (2 this year) This sit is the best I have been twice this year with my daughter and she loves it. She is not one of those moaners about the no noise rule and yet she is a with it 15. Strange how they seem to be all middle aged wine drinkers perhaps they would be better half way up a mountain with the goats. Anyway great site great food great views great hosts what more can you say and for once the weather this year has been great!
keeep dishing up the same Doris and the team

Third visit in 4 yrs, and even better for the cafe, weather beautiful as usual (third time we've been sunburned, so pack sun lotion). Best view from a tent ever, cleanest and friendliest camp site we've been to. We will be back soon.

The children wanted to camp on the weekend of the 21st June as it was the longest day. As my husband had to work this was my first camping trip alone with the children and our first visit to Castlerigg Farm. What a pleasure to visit a site who stick by their policy of "No noise after 10.30pm". The rules are so clear it amazed us when we found we had camped beside the only people on the field who thought the rules didn't apply to them. We were glad to see the site practise what they preach and the situation was soon under control and everything back to the quiet we had all come to enjoy.
The unlikely culprits were two couples in their 50s and as my 12 year old daughter said "they were old enough to known better". The two couples were there to have a "good time" regardless of whatever anyone else thought, other campers asked them to be quiet only to be told un-politely to go away. The site warden gave the last warning and the abuse the warden got would have made any football hooligan proud. To everyone's joy the police arrived and arrested one of the men and the situation was quickly sorted.
All this aside we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay, the showers, toilets etc. were spotless and the staff were very pleasant and helpful although very firm on arrival reminding everyone they do mean "No noise after 10.30pm". The site shop was well stocked and the meals at the cafe were excellent, I can recommend the salmon. The views were stunning with marvellous sun sets and wherever you pitch your tent you wont be disappointed.
The site wardens walk around the field reminding anyone if their voices carry and due to this the site felt a safe place to stay. We plan a return visit next month and would happily recommend this site to anyone who wants a great place to stay and a good nights sleep.

Date of visit 20th & 21st June 2008.
In thirty years of camping this is the worst site ever!
The 'noise wardens' certainly upheld the 'no noise' rule by patroling the site after 10pm and warning you how long to the 10.30 'no noise' rule watershed.
Personal space and civil liberties have by passed this site.
Rules are stuck onto any surface which is free and in the rules we notice 'children are not allowed to climb trees or or ride bikes in certain areas'.
The freedoms assosiated with the wild camping experience are totaly absent from this site.
If you value the normal freedoms to make noise give this campsite a wide berth.
The obsesive complusive behavoiur dispalyed by certain members of staff, demonsrtad rules and values far removed from the camping experience of partying after 10.30pm.

We visited Castlerigg for the first time last June. It was the first time we had been camping as a family(including our dog Penny). Castlerigg was just the best campsite to begin our camping experience. As people have said before it is such a welcoming site & kept spotless. We are planning our second visit on the 21st of this month(less than 2 weeks!!!!!!)
we are bringing my dad aswell because he enjoys camping still even at 74 years young & he has invited his friend to come too.(both my mum & the friends wife don't walk too much nowadays so they stay at home)
Looking forward to seeing you soon & can't wait to try the cafe!

This weekend gone, 9-11th May 2008 would be to most people the same as many others, but not to me. The 10th May would be the day I completed all 214 Wainwright fells, and so my family and I wanted to spend the whole weekend in the lakes making the most of the occasion.
Our good friends Chris and Becca, with their daughter Emily were going to be joining us, and this would be their first stay at Castlerigg FARM, they had been used to staying not far from here, this would be double figures or more for my family.
We got a pitch right in front of the cones only a short walk to the loo's and almost perfectly flat, and our friends who arrived on site some two hours after us were able to pitch right by the side of us.
It did not take long for Chris and Becca to agree that apart from the price being better than the 'other place', so was the view! They are complete converts to the farm now and I think we may all be back some time soon.
Facilities were as always spotless and the welcome from Doris as we drove on was wonderful.
'Mr Harper from Blackpool' thanks all at Castlerigg Farm for making a VERY special weekend PERFECT!
THANK YOU!!!
